A
Free Gift!
Yes
there really is something in this world that is free besides
advice. This gift is something that money cannot buy. The gift is Eternal
Life. The Bible tells us in the book of Romans chapter
3 verse 23, that the gift of God is Eternal Life. You can receive
this gift right now. Here's how to become a Christian:
A step of FAITH
Imago Dei. That's Latin for the "image of God." It's
also a term that has sparked heated debate among Bible scholars
for centuries. What does it mean to be in the image of God? How
are we like God? Well, different people will answer those
questions in different ways. Still, one thing is certain…God
wants us to be more like Him every day. He wants to transform us
into a greater likeness of Himself. And that begins with a
personal relationship with His Son Jesus.
If someone were to ask - "In your personal opinion: What do
you understand it takes for a person to go to heaven?" - how
would you answer? Consider how the Bible answers this question. It
is a matter of FAITH:
F
is for Forgiveness - We cannot have eternal life and heaven
without God's forgiveness. (Read Ephesians 1:7a)
A
is for Available - Forgiveness is available for all. (Read John
3:16) But forgiveness is not automatic. (Read Matthew 7:21a)
I
is for Impossible - It is impossible for God to allow sin into
heaven. Why is that?
Because of Who He is: God is loving and just. His judgment is
against sin. (Read James 2:13a) Because of who we are: Every
person is a sinner (Read Romans 3:23) How can a sinful person
enter heaven, when God allows no sin?
T
is for Turn - Turn means repent. We are to turn from something -
or sin and our self. (Read Luke 13:3b) We are to turn to Someone.
We are to trust Christ only. (Read Romans 10:9)
H
is for Heaven - Heaven is eternal life. Can you believe it? When
we come to God in faith, we can have a piece of heaven
here…(Read John 10:10b) and the promise of heaven
hereafter…that is, after we die. (Read John 14:3) How can a
person have God's forgiveness, heaven and eternal life, and Jesus
as personal Savior and Lord? By trusting in Christ and asking Him
for forgiveness.
Take the step of
faith described by another meaning of FAITH:
Forsaking
All
I
Trust
Him
Here's a simple
prayer of faith you can pray:
Lord Jesus, I know I am a sinner and have displeased You in many
ways. I believe You died for my sin and only through faith in Your
death and resurrection can I be forgiven. I want to turn from my
sin and ask You to come into my life as my Savior and Lord. From
this day on, I will follow You by living a life that pleases You.
Thank You, Lord Jesus, for loving and forgiving me.
